Foundation work in Irving
Irving's Fees & Forms page lists a Foundation Repair permit, required when doing foundation repairs, and the Fees & Rates page prices it at $125 per building. Irving also has a Foundation Only Permit, a separate line at 10% of the regular permit fee charged in addition to it, and work begun without a permit draws an investigation fee equal to 100% of the regular fee. Irving says nothing about an engineer's letter.
Proposed ordinances for adopting the 2024 International Codes are linked from the inspections pages, which don't say which edition applies today. Inspections works from Irving City Hall, 2nd Floor, 825 W. Irving Blvd., weekdays between 8 and 5 at (972) 721-2371, and permits are filed through the MGO online portal. Its FAQ says the city verifies applicable contractor licensing with the State of Texas for all building permit applications, and names electrical, mechanical, irrigator and plumbing contractors as the trades that need one.
A homeowner doing the work personally needs a Dallas Central Appraisal District homestead exemption on file first. Going by ACS estimates, a home its owner lives in is worth $315,600 at the Irving median, and housing there dates from 1986 at the median. TDLR's 41 regulated programs run from Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Contractors to Weather Modification, and foundation repair isn't one of them.
